Happy Halloween…

Well, Happy Halloween readers. This little video shows a slightly different take on the age-old tradition of bobbing for apples. The real amusement starts about 2min 22secs in, as Celebrity Juice host Keith Lemon and Jedward go bobbing for potatoes.

I’m not sure what’s scarier.

The thought of prolonged exposure to Jedward, or the fact they (allegedly) bought some of Michael Jackson’s used bed sheets for a soiled-tastic £20,000.

Nightmares all round and not a witch in sight…

How do take over twitter (without dying a la Michael Jackson)

free

Every now and then, you get a tweet and think, bugger me.

The old tricks just don’t go out of fashion…

Moonfruit (a web design software company) has utilised a classic give-away promotion in order to become one of the most tweeted about subjects as word of its MacBook Pro giveaway spread like wildfire across the Twitt-o-sphere.

Those canny Moonfruit boys n girls are giving away 10 MacBook Pros over the next 10 days, to mark their 10th year of operation. Brilliant!

All you have to do to enter, is tweet the term #moonfruit, sit back, pray and cross your fingers that the algorithm will randomly choose you as a winner!

They haven’t stopped there however…

People are invited to tweet the term as many times as possible, leading to #moonfruit becoming a trending topic. Why does that matter?

Well, for those that don’t tweet, trending topics appear on the front of the Twitter site and encourage thousands more users to click and see what it is that everyone is talking about on the site.

Its a massive reason a certain King of Pop’s death literally took over the site within minutes.

Expect to see a lot more of this as the year unfolds, and not just with free giveaways.

Canny brands will no doubt utilise similar techniques to tease, taunt (another ‘t’ I can’t think of), and respond immediately to competitive campaigns with counter offers / messages etc.

2009 is hotting up…

King of Pop in heart attack shocker…

what happened here then?

what happened here then?

When I bought tickets to see what someone in the office dubbed pop’s paedo prince (he stopped being the King of Pop in the early 90’s), I was chuffed.

I didn’t get the opening night, but I got the next best thing. The closing night.

His last gig at the O2 in London. Brilliant. Then, it hit me.

He probably won’t do all of them, it’s highly likely some’ll get cancelled.

If I’m not in there early, what are the odds on me seeing him at all?

Well, the breaking news this evening, is that he’s ALLEGEDLY suffered a heart attack at his home in Los Angeles this and was rushed to hospital (no doubt with a rather large entourage in tow).

When the first few shows were delayed, AEG said this was in order to make sure everything for the ‘massive and technically complex show’ was running smoothly.

There was also some bull about Madonna’s technically complex show crossing over, and there wasn’t time to reset stages.

But the bitter disbelieving cynics out there (myself included) wonder if the ongoing drip feeding to the media of health stories, are the real reason behind the gigs being postponed, and possibly cancelled without a protracted, expensive lawsuit.

The plot thickens…

Iain Morrison is a senior marketer in the British Tourism Industry. And is glad he didn’t buy his tickets to the show from a tout…
